The Digital Theater for Twin Cities Improv
Technically Funny is bringing video production to the performers, theaters, and improv troupes of the Twin Cities. We’re here to ensure the funniest people in Minnesota finally have the production support, cinematic footage, and digital platform they deserve.
Production as a Supporting Character
Just like a great tech improviser, our job isn’t to take over the show. We’re here to capture the live energy of your performance so your comedy lands just as hard for a digital audience as it does for the front row.
Artist-Centric Ownership
You made the art; you keep the control. We believe in providing a platform where the performer stays in the driver’s seat and are currently developing a cooperative structure, with revenue-sharing opportunities available right now.

We aim to be the digital theater that helps amplify the many diverse voices and unique laughs coming out of Minnesota, creating a supportive digital platform that benefits everyone in the community.
WHO IS THIS FOR AND WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
We are performers and producers from the Twin Cities scene, building Technically Funny to support the community we love. Right now, the local scene is a bit of a scattered puzzle digitally; we believe high-quality tech is the piece that helps put it back together. We want to act as your go-to production team, bridging the gap between a great night in a small theater and the countless comedy fans who couldn’t make the live show.
WHAT DO I ACTUALLY GET WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER?
You’re getting high-quality, multi-cam footage that accurately captures the energy of the room. We provide the professional-grade visual assets you need to showcase your craft on social media, submit to regional festivals, or share with fans who can’t make it to the theater. We’re keeping our setup flexible as we build, with revenue-sharing opportunities available right now and a cooperative membership structure coming soon.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE START?
We’re mobile! While we are establishing partnerships with venues like The Others Workshop Collective, we can scout your specific location, from high-end stages to makeshift indie spaces. We are in our gear-up phase and are looking for our first “pilot” groups right now.
HOW DOES THIS WORK FOR MY RIGHTS AND BUDGET?
You own the art. Period. We are a cooperative-minded business; we are the facilitators, you are the creators. We use a contract that ensures you keep control of your intellectual property while we help you amplify it. We are currently finalizing an accessible pricing structure that supports the talent without taking over the “bit.”
ISN’T IMPROV SUPPOSED TO BE “ONLY SEEN ONCE”?
Yes, and we want you to have full control over that. Want your set available for only a week? Perfect. Want it to live online forever? We’ll keep it up as long as we possibly can. You decide the shelf-life of your digital performance.
WILL THIS STOP PEOPLE FROM COMING TO LIVE SHOWS?
We believe that by creating a safe, high-quality place to see improv online, we increase the visibility of the art form. Digital content acts as a way to drive new fans to your live shows who might otherwise never have known you were performing.
